Sitka Salmon Tours provides daily behind-the-scenes walking tours of Sitka, Alaska's sustainable salmon fishery. We depart every Monday through Saturday at 1pm from the Sitka Sound Science Center. The tour costs $20 per person, no reservations necessary. As you'll find out, wild Alaskan salmon are the lifeblood of Sitka's unique culture and the backbone of its economy. In this personalized walking tour, you will see salmon, think salmon, and eat salmon, as your tour guide walks you through salmon's life cycle, from the braided streams of the Tongass National Forest to the plates of Sitka restaurants and beyond. Even though the summer season is winding down it's not too late to take a Sitka Salmon Tour! Tours will continue to leave from the Sitka Sound Science Center 1pm, Monday - Saturday through Friday, August 31st.

During our inaugural summer, Sitka Salmon Tours attracted local coverage in several media outlets, sparking interest across the country in our intimate and innovative walking tour program. Here are some highlights!
- “Sitka tours seek to add new dimensions to the story of wild salmon” by Jonathan Grass was featured in the Juneau Empire on July 9, 2011.
- Our local Daily Sitka Sentinel published “Salmon Used as Lure for Sitka Tours” by Craig Giammona on July 7, 2011. This feature in the Weekend edition got picked up on the AP by two dozen newspapers across the country! From the Travel section of the Victoria Advocate in Texas to the Washington Examiner in our nation’s capital. In fact, the New York Post featured the tour in its “Day in Photos” on July 7!
- KCAW, Raven Radio, 2011 intern Emily Bender produced “From Stream to Plate,” an award-winning story, now on YouTube with photos from her tour!
- Popular and syndicated fishing show, AnglerWestTV, joined us for a special tour of Sheldon Jackson Hatchery. Program aired January 14, 2012. Check us out around minute 11!
